I’m not sure if it’s necessarily the ‘best’ brand to use but I always use Xpressions Kanekalon Synthetic hair. It’s cheap and really easy to use. It’s never let me down so far!

did u have to get work experience before u made your applications for ur teacher training? and what route of teacher training did u take?

I’m teaching in the UK so my response is based on the English education system - hope that applies to you!

Work experience isn’t compulsory then applying for a place but it definitely helps. Although, this is dependent on the course you are applying for. When I was offered a place on the English PGCE Secondary course, I was asked to spend at least two weeks observing in a primary school if I had not done already - luckily I had already volunteered in various schools as a TA.

For the Schools Direct programme, however, (formerly the GTP) previous work in school is required due to the nature of the course.

With Teach First, I think you have to observe lessons in a school too but for a total of five or six days overall.

I’m in the final stretch of my teacher training year and boy has it been immense. I will have to go into detail in a later post but right now I cannot wait to finish!!

I’ve managed to secure a job at a school in Nottingham and will begin work in September. I’ll be a real adult with a real job and real money coming in, check me out!

The year has been hellish, emotionally and physically draining but I’ve made it through. Praise the Lord! I’ve learned so much about myself- there’s so many things I need to change, improve and reflect upon but I already know I’m going to make a fantastic teacher; I can feel it in my bones!

I feel like I should say something inspirational now… like… YOU CAN MAKE IT! YOU CAN DO IT! KEEP STRIVING! All this is true but honestly, the best piece of advice I can give right now is:

Take your time, enjoy the ride and realise the only person expecting perfection is you. Anything that’s worth value is going to be difficult to attain but in the end, it will all be worth it.
